The Terre Haute police officers responded to a complaint of a man making threats and brandishing a gun at workers around 7 a.m., as reported by Indiana Police Sergeant Matt Ames. The subsequent standoff lasted for two hours, during which Indiana police negotiators attempted to make contact with the suspect. However, the situation took a deadly turn when the gunman unexpectedly left the building and pointed his weapon at the officers, leading them to respond with fatal force. The suspect’s refusal to comply with the Indiana police orders resulted in the establishment of a perimeter around the scene.
