Bay Area Badminton Coach Arrested for Alleged Inappropriate Conduct with a Minor

A prominent Bay Area badminton coach, Phu Khuu, was arrested on July 25, 2023, for alleged lewd and lascivious acts with a 14-year-old juvenile.

The Milpitas Police Department released a statement confirming arrest of the badminton coach and the ongoing investigation into the matter. Khuu, a 51-year-old Fremont resident and badminton coach, co-owns and coaches at Bintang Badminton, a well-known badminton facility located at 746 S. Milpitas Blvd. According to the press release, the police initiated their investigation after receiving reports of an inappropriate relationship between Khuu and a juvenile victim on July 13, 2023. The victim disclosed incidents of inappropriate physical contact and sexual communication with the badminton coach. Detectives later determined that the alleged misconduct occurred at the Bintang Badminton facility in Milpitas, where Khuu is actively involved in coaching and managing operations.

Khuu’s arrest has sent shockwaves through the local badminton community, where he was known as a respected badminton coach and mentor to young athletes.
