The fresh waterways of Alaska are off limits to snagging and it is against the law to keep any fish that has been hooked somewhere other than the mouth that is why troopers charge four locals with sport fishing violations. Additionally, all of the edible meat from every salmon captured for sport needs to be saved. At the end of Captains Bay at least thirty deceased salmon had been stripped of their roe and dumped back into the river without having any of the edible meat collected as required by law.
