An inquiry into alleged hazing within the University of San Diego football team led to the University of San Diego football team’s half facing disciplinary punishment soon before the start of the season.
Alleged Hazing within the University of San Diego Football Team
The University of San Diego football team hazing claims come more than a month after a hazing controversy rocked the Northwestern football team. Former players said that hazing persisted under Pat Fitzgerald’s leadership. As a result of the issue, Fitzgerald was fired on July 10 and other former athletes have filed lawsuits against the institution. According to the university, head coach Brandon Moore was informed of the hazing claims on August 18 within the University of San Diego football team and immediately informed sports director Bill McGillis. As a result, the University of San Diego football team will likely face discipline and the University of San Diego football team activities have been put on hold while investigators go to work.
No reported physical injuries, and which also informed the San Diego Police Department of findings of it’s investigation. San Diego also requested review of alleged hazing by a third party. Players who were not suspended will still allowed to play this season according to San Diego, where practice resumed on August 23.
