A man has been charged with murder in the death of a 3-year-old girl on Christmas Day, according to Maine State Police.
Tyler Witham-Jordan, 29, of Edgecomb, was arrested Friday in the death of Makinzlee Handrahan, according to a news release from the police department.
Police in Edgecomb stated they received a 911 call on the morning of December 25, 2022, reporting that the youngster was not breathing. She was later declared dead in a hospital.
Augusta’s medical examiner’s office deemed the death a homicide, but police said Friday that the cause of death is being withheld for the time being.
According to investigators, At the time, Witham-Jordan was Makinzlee’s mother’s boyfriend. He was imprisoned in Wiscasset.
On Saturday, his attorney, James Howaniec, informed The Associated Press that Witham-Jordan would be brought into court on Tuesday. He stated that he had no additional information.
