Police In Oregon Have Arrested A Religious Leader For Allegedly Sexually Abusing Girls In His Congregation

Authorities in Oregon arrested a preacher on Wednesday after he was accused of improperly assaulting two girls in his congregation.

According to county jail records, Christopher Michael Pruitt, 39, of Beaverton, was indicted in Washington County on six counts of first-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree sexual abuse.

Pruitt is accused of inappropriately touching two young girls who were part of his small flock at Our Father’s House Ministries Church.

Pruitt originally ran the church from his house in north Beaverton before relocating it to north Portland, according to the Beaverton Police Department.

Pruitt was arrested on October 5 and was being held at the Washington County Jail, where he was still being kept as of Wednesday.

According to court records, Pruitt pleaded guilty to public indecency in Multnomah County in 2017, according to the Beaverton Valley Times. For the Class A misdemeanour, he was sentenced to one year of probation.

According to the article, a pre-trial release hearing is scheduled for Friday.
