According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a circuit court judge in Maryland was shot outside his home Thursday evening.

Andrew Wilkinson, 52, of Washington County Circuit Court, was identified as the man discovered shot several times in the driveway of a home in Hagerstown, Maryland, on Thursday evening.

The Associated Press recognised the home as Wilkinson’s.

Deputies responded to a gunshot in the 19100 block of Olde Waterford Road at 8 p.m. Thursday, according to the sheriff’s office. Wilkinson was discovered in the driveway with obvious gunshot wounds at the scene.

He was transported to Meritus Medical Centre, where he died as a result of his injuries.

As of Friday morning, no suspect had been identified or apprehended, and the motive, if any, remained unknown.

“This continues to be an active investigation; due to the ongoing investigation, certain details will not be released,” the sheriff’s office said.
