$4M West Bloomfield Home a Total Loss After Massive Fire Injures 1

Authorities claimed a roaring fire erupted at a multi-million dollar property in Oakland County on Tuesday morning, sending the homeowner to the hospital with severe burns.

At 6 a.m. on Oct. 24, WWJ’s Charlie Langton was live at the site, where the fire was extinguished but left behind a scorched 7,000 square foot property on Commerce Road, tucked between Cass Lake and Orchard Lake.

“It says it’s worth about $4 million or so, but this morning, it is a total loss because of a fire,” Mr. Langton added.

The fire started around 1:30 a.m., according to officials. Firefighters and first responders from all six West Bloomfield fire stations were dispatched to the area.

Commerce Road between Indian Trail and Three Lakes Lane was closed for the majority of the night, but reopened just before 6:45 a.m.

Langton stated that five people were inside when the house caught fire. Four individuals were rescued safely, while the homeowner was hospitalised with severe burns to their hand.

“Officials say that the fire may have started in the kitchen, but there’s a lot of fire personnel here from a number of different agencies and they’re going to be doing a very thorough investigation,” Mr. Langton added.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Firefighters are still on the scene. Drivers are encouraged to take other routes.
