Impersonator Posing as FBI Agent Arrested in Banning

On Tuesday, a guy impersonating a federal agent was apprehended in Banning.

According to a statement from the Banning Police Department, Hector Francisco Perez, 40, was arrested after officers were dispatched to the 300 block of S. Highland Springs Avenue after a resident reported a suspicious person in a parking lot in the area who was standing next to a car fixed with red and blue flashing lights.

Officers approached Perez, who described himself as a Federal Bureau of Investigation agent, even presenting them fake credentials.

Perez allegedly grew combative and struggled with the cops as the conversation progressed, culminating to his detention.

According to the BPD statement, he was arrested for impersonating a peace officer, resisting a peace officer, and attempting to grab a peace officer’s pistol while resisting.

Detectives are requesting anybody with new information or who feels they were victimised by Perez when he impersonated an FBI agent to contact them at (951) 922-3170 while their investigation is ongoing.
