According to authorities, a man was detained after he allegedly pulled a revolver on a 6-year-old and pointed it at his head while he was eating Halloween candy.
The event happened on Saturday night in Manhasset, Long Island, New York, at around 7:25 p.m. A 42-year-old woman was taking her daughter, two sons, and nephew to a neighbouring home to hand off a goody bag.
“The daughter was dropping off a goody bag at her friend’s house,” claimed the Nassau County Police Department in a statement. “The daughter, 10, and son, 6, got out of the car and approached the house.” Before returning to the van, they rang the doorbell and put a goody bag full of Halloween candy on the doorstep.”
The woman’s daughter noted that the address where they dumped the goody bag may have been incorrect and informed her mother, according to authorities.
“They returned to the location and the male, 6, exited the vehicle to retrieve the goody bag from the porch,” said a police report. “At this time, the front door opened, a male stepped out of the residence and pointed a black handgun at the victim’s head.”
The incident was promptly reported to the Nassau County Police Department, and the 43-year-old suspect, Michael Yifan Wen, was detained without incident and charged with menacing in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child.
