27-year-old identified as man killed in Fairfield shooting

In a tragic incident that unfolded in Fairfield, authorities have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred on a Friday afternoon. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has officially confirmed the victim’s name as Deandre Lamar Hayes, a 27-year-old resident of Fairfield.

The sequence of events leading to this heartbreaking incident began when the sheriff’s office received a call at 2:33 p.m. reporting shots fired in the vicinity. Law enforcement promptly responded to the call but initially did not discover any immediate signs of the incident.

However, the situation took a grim turn later that afternoon. At 4:40 p.m., authorities received notification of a person down outside a residence located in the 600 block of Jerry D. Coleman Street. Deputies rushed to the scene, where they discovered Deandre Lamar Hayes unresponsive. Despite their efforts, Hayes was pronounced dead on-site at 4:57 p.m.
