At this moment, authorities say they have no evidence of a connection between the two.
“That (Mosley) murder case is currently pending trial,” stated Capt. Greg Bello in an email. “I’m not in a position to reveal any information about potential witnesses.” Any inquiries about that matter must be directed to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.”

Who was shot that night in Rochester?
According to RPD’s open data site, Chance Mosley, 17, was shot and murdered on November 1, 2022, at a Weld Street residence. Mosley was discovered dead on the porch of the Weld Street home and was declared dead at the spot.
That’s the same neighbourhood house where Jakarah Lopez-Moore went missing nearly a year after Mosley’s murder. She had been absent for several weeks. On October 14, 2023, her corpse was discovered in a forested region kilometres distant, behind an industrial complex.
Who is on trial for the murder of Chance Mosley?
Raymar Alexander, 18, has been arrested and charged with the murder of Chance Mosley. He is now awaiting trial.
Alexander is charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to the felony indictment. He is accused of repeatedly shooting Mosley in the upper body and legs with a 9 mm pistol.
According to the Rochester Police Department, Alexander accidently shot himself in the arm during the confrontation and was hospitalised to Rochester General Hospital for his injuries.
The indictment claims that citizen witnesses identified Alexander as the gunman, but no names were given. Alexander’s trial was scheduled for November 17, however it was postponed.
What is the connection between this case and Jakarah Lopez-Moore?
A Facebook post shared by a Mosley family member initially attracted attention to the link in Jakarah’s case, but little information has been made public. The D&C sought public documents that corroborated the location relationship, which had not previously been reported in the media.
The Facebook post has since been removed, but it stated that Jakarah was a witness to the shooting. People in the comments said she was assisting investigators, although it’s unclear what her role was at this point.
RPD stated that they do not believe the two incidents are linked at this time.
The police have not stated if she ever worked with them. And they have no substantial proof that the two occurrences are unrelated.
They claim they haven’t uncovered a solid link beyond the shared location.
