Port Authority Bus Terminal Reopens After Bomb Threat Investigation

Wednesday night, the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown was briefly evacuated due to a bomb threat.

According to law enforcement officials, a guy claimed to have a bomb on him and locked himself inside the bus station.

At around 8:45 p.m., the NYPD and Port Authority Police started an investigation within the terminal.

The individual was placed under arrest.

Before 11 p.m., the all-clear was given, and operations have resumed as usual.

Governor Kathy Hochul praised the police for their efforts in resolving the situation.

“I have been briefed on the suspected package at the Port Authority Bus Terminal that resulted to the evacuation of the terminal,” Hochul stated in a press release. “The suspicious package has been located and removed from the area, courtesy of the Port Authority Police and the NYPD. The bus station is currently operating normally again.”
