As per a report published in The Sun, Dipak Thakor was attacked by a renowned group of monkeys when he was playing with his pals in the little village of Salki. One of the creatures proceeded to tear out the boy’s guts by sinking its claws into him.

After the incident, Thakor was taken to the hospital immediately, but sadly, the medical staff was unable to save his life.

“His intestine was ripped out in the attack. He rushed (back) to his house and was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” a local official said in a statement, according to sources.

The official stated that the most recent tragedy was “the third attack by monkeys in the village within a week.” The monkeys that killed the youngster are still at large and have carried out more attacks.

Officials have been trying to track down what was described as a “large troop” of monkeys, and they have been successful in catching a few of them thus far, according to Salki forest official Vishal Chaudhary.

“We have rescued two langurs in the past one week, and set up cages to trap another langur,” Chaudhary said, according to the report. “There is a large troop of monkeys in the village, including four adults who have been involved in attacks in the past week. Two of them have been rescued. Efforts are on to cage another.”

The article claims that hazardous interactions with monkeys are common in India. A 3-year-old youngster was taken earlier this year and hauled up a cliff by a monkey. After a few hours of searching, the police in that instance found the youngster and gave her back to her parents without incident.
