According to Kansas City police, two cars crashed head-on in downtown Kansas City on Sunday.
Just south of Front Street, at around 5:56 a.m., someone was driving a Kia in the incorrect direction on Interstate 35.
According to reports, the driver of the Nissan struck the Kia while it was moving in the proper lane—southbound.
There were no other occupants in the cars when the collision happened, and both drivers died.
For about three and a half hours, authorities blocked all lanes of southbound I-35 to traffic at Front Street. Since then, the highway has reopened.
