After scorching through 30 to 40 acres of palm trees in state parkland north of Indio on Sunday night, a wildfire was still raging, according to Cal Fire.
Although the fire was in a “difficult to access area,” no houses were thought to be in jeopardy.
According to a map that Cal Fire posted on social media, the fire was located in the Biskra Palms region, a few miles north of Interstate 10.
Firefighters intended to spend the entire night on the scene.
