After he repeatedly stabbed his daughter during an argument outside a Nashville residence, a Tennessee dad was taken into custody.
Following the incident that occurred Monday afternoon outside a house in South Nashville in the 3000 block of Louise Drive, Floyd Allen Seay, 81, was charged with attempted criminal homicide.
When Metro Nashville Police arrived at the scene of a domestic incident at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Monday, they discovered the victim had been stabbed in the cheek, lower neck, and chest, according to WZTV. After being taken to the Vanderbilt University Medical Centre, her severe injuries were stabilised.
Seay was held by police until detectives could get to the location. Multiple witnesses who provided video of the alleged verbal dispute that turned into a physical brawl between Seay and his daughter were questioned by investigators.
An arrest report states that Seay repeatedly struck his daughter in the face after grabbing her head and pulling her to the ground. Then Seay gets up, enters the house, and when he returns holding a kitchen knife, he approaches his daughter and starts stabbing her.
Officers were informed by an eyewitness at the site that following the stabbing, Seay got to his feet, gave the knife to a neighbour, and said, “I tried to kill her, but I couldn’t.”
Seay admitted to the investigators that he had purposefully snatched the knife, but he was unsure of his motivation. He asserted that “everything that had been building up” was the reason the fight got out of hand and that he would do it again if given the chance.
After being hauled into jail, he was given a $500,000 bond and admitted to Metro Jail.
