Woman arrested for allegedly attempting to burn down Martin Luther King Jr.’s birth home

In Atlanta, a woman got arrested for the attempt to burn down the birth home of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. According to the statement released by the Atlanta Police Department, this woman was stopped by two officer who were off duty at that time when she was pouring gasoline on the porch of King’s birth home.

The Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum told local media that,” The action by those officers had saved an important part of American history tonight”.

The woman whose name is Laneisha Shantrice Henderson of age 26-year-old got charged with criminal attempt arson and criminal attempt interference with government property.

According to the Atlanta Fire Department Battalion Chief Jerry DeBerry, the house would have burned if the officers did not stopped the suspect on right time. She may face additional federal charges as that house is a federal property.
