The Minneapolis Police Department reports that during a nearly six-hour standoff, a suspect was taken into custody after killing a cashier in Minneapolis by striking him with a golf club.

Officers were called to a stabbing at a business in the 200 block of Oak Grove St. in Minneapolis just before 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

A news release from the Minneapolis Police Department stated that upon arriving at the grocery store, officers discovered a 66-year-old man behind the counter with a golf club impaled through his torso.

The cashier died at a nearby hospital from his wounds, according to authorities, even though first responders provided rapid medical attention.

With the help of a witness, officers were able to locate the culprit at a nearby apartment block.

The Minneapolis Police Department’s explosives squad, SWAT team, drone unit and negotiators were called, and the man barricaded himself inside the apartment.

Officers said that the 44-year-old man was apprehended without any problems after almost six hours.

The goal of the investigation is to ascertain what transpired before the murder.

The cashier’s identity is still a mystery.
