Child Tax Credits 2023: What can you do if you haven’t received your refund?

Child Tax Credits (CTCs) refunds are a great way to provide some relief to some families  by giving them their money back, they should rightfully possess, but what is they do not receive and to whom they should contact?

CTCs are a form of financial assistance provided to families with qualifying children. Their intention is to help the parents to offset the costs of raising their children and to provide financial support to eligible parents or guardians. The children must be below the age of 17 years.

If someone did not received the CTCs fund, the following steps they can take-

  • They must be sure about their eligibility to receive CTCs.
  • There may be delay in the funds due to various reasons. Hence, they should check the official website of the Internal Revenue Service [IRS] to check the delay or changes in the distribution of CTCs.
  • To check their payment status and to check potential issues if they still believe they are eligible, the IRS has online tools, helplines and resources.
  • They should be sure if their address and bank account details is up to date with the IRS. Because if the necessary information is not provided to the IRS, their payment must be delayed.

When can I expect my tax refund with Child Tax Credit 2023?

The CTCs are expected to be received by the eligible ones by February 28, 2024 who had claimed the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) if these returns were filed online, refunds chosen to be a direct deposit or there are no issues on the return.
