Stowaway with Russian ID flew from Denmark to LAX without passport or ticket, court document shows

As per the criminal complaint filed on Monday, a Russian-speaking man named Sergey Vladimirovich Ochigava somehow managed to fly from Denmark to Los Angeles without any passport, visa or plane ticket in the previous month.

According to the sources her arrived at LAX at 1 p.m. on November 4, but got captured by the officials at the Customs and Border Protection Checkpoint when he was not found out to be mentioned in the passenger list on Scandinavian Airlines flights SK 931 from Copenhagen or any other flight.

When officer asked questions from Ochigava, he was found to be so confused and provide misleading information that he had forgotten his passport in airplane. Then he said to CBP officer that he is confused as he had not slept for three days and he did not know how did he travelled without a ticket.

This complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California by FBI Special Agent Caroline A. Walling informed that the man had committed the offense and is charged for crime that carries a potential jail sentence of up to 5 years.

When Ochigava’s bag was searched, Russian ID cards and an Israeli ID card but there was no passport. When his phone was checked, officers found a partial picture of his passport, showing his name, date of birth and passport number but not his photo.

Flight crew also noticed Ochigava a quite weird in the plane. His phone contained a map app screenshot showing a hostel in Kiel, a city in northern Germany. A warrant has been granted to seize and search the black iPhone SE.
