In a Facebook post, the Howard County Sheriff’s Office stated that Demby was in a Baltimore pub early on Friday when a “verbal argument broke out between other patrons.”

The post stated that shots were fired during the scuffle and Demby was hit.

In a news release, City Councilman Eric Costello claimed that the incident began inside the bar’s entrance and continued outdoors.

When police got on the scene, they found Demby to have “numerous life-threatening gunshot wounds.”

The constable was taken to a local hospital where doctors eventually declared him dead.

Crowder was taken into custody without a hitch.

On Saturday morning, Acting Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley stated that the entire incident had been recorded on video.

According to the Associated Press, authorities were able to identify Crowder as a suspect right away because to the video and witness accounts.

During the press conference, Howard County Sheriff Marcus Harris described Demby as an “outstanding young man” who had followed his father, a sergeant with the police, into law enforcement.

Demby just completed the police academy, according to a Howard County Sheriff’s Office social media post. Photos indicate that his father is a Sheriff’s Deputy as well.

Deputy Demby is the 208th homicide victim in Baltimore so far in 2023, according to FOX 45 in Baltimore, which also noted that 498 people have been shot and injured this year.
