Shannon O’Connor Trial: Mom Faces 63 Charges and Potential Life Sentence Despite 17-Year Plea Deal Offer

A Santa Clara County grand jury indicted 49-year-old O’Connor on 63 counts on Monday, October 30. The charges include child endangerment for serving alcohol to people who are not of legal age and for promoting and abetting sexual assault.

According to the New York Post, 17 purported victims testified against O’Connor before the indictment was granted.

She was given a 17-year term in May when she entered a guilty plea, but the extra counts may put her in jail for decades. It wasn’t immediately apparent if O’Connor, who is being held without bond, has a lawyer who could comment on the allegations.

Which charges are made against Shannon O’Cannon?

Prosecutors claimed at the hearing that Shannon O’Connor hosted six alcohol-fueled parties in 2020 at her Los Gatos home and other Airbnb homes in Lake Tahoe and Santa Cruz.

According to court documents, she was “pretty picky” about the ladies she admitted into her parties, “she would reject girls as guests by saying they weren’t ‘pretty enough’ or didn’t ‘put out’,” according to the Daily Mail.

Prosecutors believe she bought beer, vodka, whisky and other alcoholic beverages and forced the adolescents, most of whom were between the ages of 14 and 15, to drink them until they passed out.

She also pushed them to keep the gatherings hidden and, in many cases, supported them in sneaking out of their houses in the middle of the night to attend them, according to court filings.

O’Connor is also accused of giving a young male a condom and putting him into a room with an inebriated juvenile female during a party in December 2020. According to court documents, the girl managed to exit the room and lock herself in the bathroom.

Furthermore, O’Connor appears to have smiled when she witnessed an inebriated youngster sexually abuse a little girl in bed during a New Year’s Eve gathering. In another case, she is accused of luring an inebriated adolescent into her bedroom, where he sexually attacked a 14-year-old female.

The girl told officers that she was so inebriated at another party that she nearly drowned in a hot tub.

What happened to Shannon O’Connor’s family?

Prosecutors think she purchased beer, vodka, scotch, and other alcoholic beverages and forced the youngsters, most of them were aged 14 to 15, to consume them until they passed out.

According to court records, she also urged them to keep the gatherings clandestine and, in many cases, helped them in sneaking out of their homes in the middle of the night to attend them.

O’Connor is also accused of providing a condom to a young man and placing him in the same room as an inebriated juvenile female during a party in December 2020. The girl managed to escape the room and lock herself in the bathroom, according to court filings.

However, after learning about the police investigation, O’Connor escaped to Idaho with her sons and was apprehended in 2021.

According to Mercury News, her 60-year-old husband, Robert Amaral, who was uninformed of her rave events, filed for divorce on January 12 this year to end their 14-year marriage.

O’Connor was denied bail and ordered to stay in detention at the Elmwood Correctional Facility in Santa Clara, where she has been kept since her arrest.

In February, the mother claimed that five offenders at the facility assaulted her.
