A 10-year-old was allegedly abused by three people in Hawaii, who tied her up with duct tape and starved her till she died

January saw the death of a malnourished 10-year-old girl who was purportedly filmed in a confined area with duct tape covering her eyes and her arms resting at her sides. Authorities have now confirmed that her carers are accused of killing her.

At a press conference on Friday, Honolulu police Lieutenant Deena Thoemmes said that the Honolulu Police Department had arrested Brandy and Thomas Blas as well as Debra Geron on February 8 in connection with the murder of Geanna Bradley.

The Honolulu Police stated that Geanna’s biological parents were not Brandy and Thomas Blas; rather, they were her legal guardians. Authorities reported that they had taken care of her since she was two years old. The child’s non-biological grandmother was found to be Geron.

The three are accused with kidnapping, wrongful imprisonment, and second-degree murder.

According to Thoemmes, the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office concluded that the woman’s death was caused by a combination of long-term maltreatment and neglect of children, hunger, pneumonia, and blunt force injuries from an assault.

When officers found her, Thoemmes stated, part of her nose was missing and her ribs were visible through her skin.

An affidavit that Honolulu Civil Beat was able to get shows that the Blases were receiving $1,961 per month from the state to care for Geanna.

A 4-year-old adopted son in the Blases’ and Geron’s care was discovered by police during their inquiry; she claimed the boy displayed indicators of mistreatment, including “failure to thrive.”

Child Welfare Services was given custody of the youngster and the couple’s four biological children, who are aged 14, 10, 5, and 3, according to Thoemmes.

Chief of Police for Honolulu Joe Logan responded, “It’s horrifying that this would happen to a 10-year-old or any child,” when asked about his thoughts on the alleged death and mistreatment of Geanna.

If anyone believes a youngster is being abused or neglected, they should contact Crime Stoppers or 911, he urged the public. On the morning of January 18, Honolulu Police were summoned to a residence on Karsten Drive in Wahiawa, thereby bringing to light the allegations of abuse and murder against Geanna.

Authorities found a toddler there who they were said was found “cold and stiff.” “A defibrillator was needed for a 10-year-old,” the fire department stated, the woman added.

Thoemmes added that when Brandy and Geron met with the officers, they revealed that they had last seen Geanna at 7:30 p.m. the previous evening. When Geron went to rouse her up for breakfast, Thoemmes claimed she discovered her unconscious and without a heartbeat.

The infant suffered facial injuries, including “scratchlike marks around her ears, eyes, forehead, cheeks, and lips,” according to the mother, who contacted homicide detectives. She appeared to have minor bruises on her eyelids, and “part of her nose bridge was missing.” In addition, she claimed to have “road-rash injuries to her chin.” Bradley suffered a nasal injury when she fell off a bike two weeks prior, according to what the suspects reportedly told the officers.

Thoemmes stated that despite being “treated well,” they stated she had ADHD and other problems.

According to her, the 4-year-old adoptive son of the Blases was observed by detectives to be extremely underweight and to have wounds on both arms.

Bradley’s nasal bridge wound was described as “very deep” by a board-certified paediatrician who also stated that the injuries to her mouth and face suggested that she had suffered “trauma with enough force to break teeth.”

Supposedly “Disturbing Images” on Cell Phones

According to Thoemmes, investigators obtained information from the adults’ cell phones that purportedly provided more details about what occurred in the home.

She added that the authorities discovered “disturbing images of what appeared to be Geanna bound with duct tape in a small area.”

She claimed that duct tape was wrapped around her eyes, forehead, and top of her head, and that her arms were glued to her torso. Her face and shoulders were said to be visibly injured.

Additionally, they discovered “video of violent interactions between Geanna and the Blases” on several occasions, including Jan. 16 — two days prior to her official death, according to Thoemmes.

Thoemmes stated in the films, “Geanna’s eyes are covered and wrapped with electrical tape, and she is bound with duct tape.” The reports claims that these clips were shot in the same little enclosed space, which appears to be a porch.

The Blases and Geron’s mistreatment was never reported to Child Welfare Services.

A criminal complaint was filed on Friday stating that Bradley was home-schooled after being pulled out of school in October 2022, according to reports.

Gerime Bradley, the child’s father, stated that he hadn’t seen her since 2016 and hoped she would be remembered as a kind youngster who was “full of love.”

“I know she’s not in any pain anymore, she’s with God,” he replied. “And I know he’s gonna wipe all that pain away that she suffered.”

It’s unknown if Geron and the Blases have gotten lawyers to speak on their behalf or if they have entered pleas.
