The 16-year veteran is anticipated to make it after being shot in the thigh and shin.

“I’m happy to report that our sergeant won’t sustain any life-threatening injuries, and he will fully recover from this,” San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus informed reporters during a news briefing on Friday night.

He stated that during the gunfight, the sergeant was wearing a body camera and that investigators would review security footage from the petrol station.

Following the arrival of authorities due to complaints of a guy brandishing a gun and threatening a woman, the suspect started shooting at the sergeant.

According to Dicus, the suspect was killed by the sergeant—who has not been named—firing back at him.

A hospital received the sergeant via airlift.
