US Rep. Jeff Fortenberry’s, a former was thrown out by federal court on Tuesday in conviction for lying to federal authorities about illegal campaign contributions that says against the Nebraska Republican was charged in the wrong jurisdiction.Due to his 2022 convictions on three felony charges were based off allegations which says that he lied in two separate meetings with the FBI. He lied by saying he wasn’t aware of any illegal contributions to his 2016 reelection campaign made by a foreign national.

He was charged by the prosecutors in Los Angeles where the campaign finance investigation happened instead of Nebraska where he met with and lied to the agents.

It does not made clear if this case would look after again by the Justice Department and if they decide to do so, federal prosecutors will need to bring changes in either Nebraska or Washington DC with starting over the case.
