New student loan forgiveness plan to impact 30,000 Pennsylvanians

According to the Department of Education,
Student loan forgiveness is one of their components to resolve “historical failures” under the supervision of the Federal Student Loan Program that was driven because of improper accounting of qualifying payments from Income-Driven Repayment.

President Joe Biden said ” My administration is delivering on that commitment. Starting today, over 800,000 student loan borrowers who have been repaying their loans for 20 years or more will see $39 billion of their loans discharged because of the steps my Administration took the fix failures of the past. ”

Therefore, you can only avail of this program if you’re paying 20-25 years of qualifying months depending on what type and IDR plan you have.
