The suspect fled their car when Ozaukee County deputies attempted to stop them. Sheriff Christy Knowles stated in a statement that the suspect’s car stopped in the town of Grafton after officers used a tyre deflation device.

The suspect took out a weapon as they ran on foot to a nearby tree line. According to Knowles, the suspect was shot by a constable and died on the spot.

It was unclear right away what kind of weapon the suspect was carrying or whether they were aiming it at law enforcement.

According to her, a gun was found at the site.

No law enforcement personnel suffered any injuries.

According to agency rules, the constable who fired their gun has been assigned to an administrative role, the spokesperson added.

The shooting investigation is being handled by the Division of Criminal Investigation of the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
