According to police, a guy was fatally shot by Southern Indiana police overnight while they were looking into a woman’s complaint about a man who was bothering her and had followed her to a police station.

Following the shooting on Thursday night in Bedford, a city located roughly 80 miles south of Indianapolis, Daymon A. Hubbard, 47, passed away in a hospital, according to Indiana State Police.

According to the state agency, a lady who went to the Bedford Police Department at around 10 p.m. to report harassment informed officers that a guy, later identified as Hubbard, had followed her there and had given them details about his car.

After spotting what he thought to be the man’s automobile five minutes later, a Bedford police officer pursued it until he started a chase, during which the suspect’s subcompact SUV hit a patrol cruiser.

Around 10:30 p.m., three Bedford police officers discharged their rifles when “the incident escalated,” according to state police without providing any details. Hubbard later passed away at a hospital in Bedford from gunshot wounds.

Police body cameras, according to state police, were used to record the deadly shooting.

As is customary after officer-involved shootings, Bedford’s police chief said that the three officers who fired their firearms will be placed on administrative leave.
