The indictments were announced Tuesday by US Attorney Andrew M. Luger in Minneapolis. All four individuals have been charged with conspiracy to carry stolen property across state lines, with two of them facing further charges.

According to court records, the men obtained stolen catalytic converters and conveyed them to purchasers, particularly high-volume ones in New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, and Colorado, from May 2020 to October 2022. The men allegedly received around $21 million as a result of the plot.

Catalytic converter theft has become a national problem in recent years. When they are stolen, they are frequently melted down for their valuable metals.
