According to a news statement from the department, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is looking into the event that happened in Metairie, Louisiana, just after 9:30 p.m. on Sunday.

A constable directing traffic attempted to pull over a fast car in the 3400 block of Hauma Boulevard, sparking the start of the pursuit. The pursuit began when the motorist would not stop and crashed her car into several sheriff’s cars.

A constable fired several shots during the chase, but no one inside the woman’s car was hit by any of them.

After the woman’s car struck a curb, deputies eventually blocked her in at the intersection of Veterans Boulevard and Cleary Avenue.

After being detained, she was taken to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Centre so that she could be booked. She is charged with several offences, including operating while intoxicated, aggravated flight, and aggravated criminal damage.

Deputies searched the woman’s car after she was taken into custody and discovered four unsupervised kids inside. Given that the car had been in several collisions, the kids were taken to a hospital as a precaution.

The issue is still being looked into.
