Man gets life for kidnapping and killing 4-year-old girl in 1986

A 63-year-old man named McDowell from Lexington County will be going to spend his whole life in prison due to charges of killing young daughter of his ex-girlfriend named Jessica Gutierrez of 4 years of age nearly 37 years ago in 1986.

As the report says, on morning of June 6, 1986, Jessica’s mother woke up and noticed that her daughter is disappeared and when she asked her another child about her, he had no clue in this context. The girl’s mother contacted law official to find her, they began an investigation. Officials searched with all efforts on foot and from the air but no one ever saw her again.

Through further investigation, it was revealed that on June 6, 1986, early in the morning, someone entered their house and kidnapped the girl and went out the front door.

FBI special agents and analysts assigned to its specialised Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team and prosecutors with the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office reexamined the case in September 2021 after three decades of Jessica’s disappearance.

Officials then identified McDowell as the primary suspect of this incident in January 2022 and arrested him from his home 20 miles north of Raleigh in North Carolina. He has been held in the Lexington County Detention Center but will be transported to the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
