Prichard Woman Confesses to Murdering Grandson

A 76-year-old Prichard woman, Mary Alice Jordan, has been charged with the murder of her 38-year-old grandson, Dana De’Anthony Jordan. According to court documents, Jordan confessed to shooting her grandson following an argument the previous night.

Jordan was taken into custody at her home on Circle Drive last Wednesday afternoon. She is currently being held in Mobile Metro Jail under a $100,000 bond. Her next court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday morning.

Court records indicate that Jordan may be suffering from dementia. This could potentially impact her mental state and ability to stand trial.

Dana De’Anthony Jordan had a lengthy criminal record, including convictions for attempted murder, assault on a corrections officer, domestic violence, drug possession, and receiving stolen property. He was serving a 20-year suspended sentence for the attempted murder of a Prichard police officer.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation. However, Jordan’s confession suggests that the motive may have been related to a personal dispute between the two.

The case of Mary Alice Jordan highlights the challenges posed by elderly offenders and the complexities of family dynamics. It also raises questions about the role of mental health in criminal behavior.
