Riots Erupt in Dublin After Children Stabbed

As reported by Raidio Teilifis Eireann, Ireland’s public media outlet, on Thursday in Dublin children were stabbed outside a school and this lead to eruption of riots and as the rumors that the attacker is a foreign national.

The group of people started the violence when a man approached children outside s school on Parnell Square East in the city on 1:30 pm local time and he started stabbing them. This lead to serious injuries to a 5-year-old girl and a woman in her 30s.As released by the police officials, the man is in his late 40s or 50s and no other identity of attacker is revealed by the police yet. In this attack a 6-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy suffered less-serious injuries. The passers by downcast the attacker that lead him to be hospitalised with injuries.

According to Gardai (Irish Police), the attacker did not attacked because of terrorism but the due to rumors of the attacker being immigrant lead to violence. The rioters set the Finglas immigration center on fire and they also burned double-decker bus and cars completely on O’Connell Bridge. Riot police was employed to quell the violence.

According to the Irish Times, Garda Commissioner Draw Harris said that the violence occurred because of a “lunatic, hooligan faction driven by far-right ideology” and Minister for Justice Helen McEntee said a “thuggish and manipulative element was using the stabbing as an excuse to wreak havoc”.

After seeing the video of violence that spread across the social media, MMA fighter Conor McGregor sound to be disappointed in the police reaction in the aftermath of the riots.
