Authorities rushed to the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Road on February 8 to serve a warrant for the arrest of Alexandra C. Hopkins, 35, the Leesburg Police Department said on Monday.

Hopkins escaped into a house after police found her, according to a news release, and swung at one of them with a sword that was longer than a foot and a half.

Hopkins was apprehended without any additional incidents.

Police were informed by a neighbour that Hopkins also swung the sword at them.

With either occurrence, no injuries were reported.

Hopkins was accused of two charges of brandishing a weapon, one offence of assault, and one count of assault on police enforcement. In addition, she has two separate warrants from a different agency.

She was sent to the adult detention centre in Loudoun County, where she is being held without bond.
